During the summer I went with Connie to watch Lucy. It was not what I was expecting at all. I though I was going to watch a soppy love film, seeing as Scarlett Johansson played the lead. I went in there with completely the wrong expectations and found that it was an action film.
The basic plot is that Lucy is forced to deliver a briefcase to an asian mob. Later we find that the briefcase is full of drugs and she has to take the drug to a different country inside her body. During the process, the drugs leak into her body and has a long term effect. During her transformation, Morgan Freeman's character: Professor Norman informs an audience that we use only 20% of our brain. He further explains what would happen if we were to use more. The drugs affect Lucy's brain and allows her to use more of her brain.
This film was not what I was expecting. It was so brilliant. The ending was rather questionable but it was inevitable. There are quite a few blood moments but overall it was a film that contained so much action, but also taught you about the capacity of the human brain. I enjoyed the filming at the beginning as it linked cleverly with animalistic behaviour, comparing humans to predators.
Scarlett Johansson was brilliant in this film, it just shows her versatility, and no one can complain that she's always playing the same characters.
I give this film at 4 out of 5 as I was just so surprised how much I enjoyed it.
