So many songs, so little time, this week's songs of the week are basically all I've listened to for a couple months so there are a fair few that I'd like to share and I can't narrow them down. It's 7.44pm on a sweet winter valentines, and instead of German programmes and chill I'm sat in the library writing a blog post about songs I'm loving. Tbf I'm actually loving life. Single life.
Favulous ft. Cybil - You
I love spotify discover weekly because I always find the best music there. I listened to this and thought it would be another one of the same kind of songs that I listen to (let's be real, it is) but it's also different....
P Reign ft. Drake and Future - DnF
There is not a time when I don't love Drake's music. The beginning of the video is so cringe though, like did they really have to explain that the rest of the video will feature girls in bikini's chilling pool side? The song is about getting drunk and fucking so what are you to expect? Next time homies, quit the Degrassi acting and just play the song.
Diplo and Sleepy Tom - Be Right There
Who remember's 'Don't Walk Away' by 'Jade'? Diplo and Sleepy Tom made a version that's so up my street, I'm so happy that they've reminded me of the old version. I love both of them.
The 1975 - The Sound
YES THE 1975 are back! They are the best band for me to reminisce about England to. Honestly their voices and sound could not get more English, takes me back to mumbling 'Chocolate' because I didn't understand any of the words. Matthew Healy <3
Jazzey James, Jhene Aiko - Holding the Sky
I feel like the beginning of this song instantly puts a smile on my face. I would love to learn this song on the piano, and I can imagine it sounding so much like a Chinese song that has really high twinkly chords.
J.Cole - No Role Models
Shout out to Kylie Jenner for having this on her snapchat all the time. Ty. Such a good song and I can't believe it was out so long ago. I'm definitely going back to listen to this whole album, I remember also liking G.O.M.D so the album looks promising. I told my dad about this song and even he was like 'that was ages ago'. Thanks dad, appreciate you're cooler than me.
Snakehips ft. Tinashe and Chance the Rapper - All My Friends
I was obsessed with this song as soon as I first heard it, but then it sort of got lost and I didn't hear it again until I was at a darty sat playing pokemon in the corner and I just lost it when this came on. I was so happy to find it again. This song is basically me and I love the video. Chance the Rapper is another person I want to get into.
Ty Dolla $ign, E-40 - Saved
Ty Dolla $ign is a sly dog because before I listened to him on Spotify I had no idea I would love his music. I feel like he reminds me of Chris Brown where I like all his songs but is not someone that I listen to or think about listening to all the time. Every time I hear a Chris Brown song I love it but I just can't make myself listen to his whole album. Ty Dolla $ign is something similar. I think it's because their songs kinda sound the same. Nevertheless I love this song.
Jack Garratt - The Love You've Given
Thank you Fiona Leedham for introducing me to Jack Garratt. I'm in love with his voice. He reminds me of City and Colour and but with a more modern chilled vibe. This is definitely my shower song.
AlunaGeorge, Popcaan - Im in control
I swear I can't hate an AlunaGeorge song, honestly this duo is one of the best around. Popcaan gives it a very 'Major Lazer - Lean ON' vibe and I can't say I hate it. I wasn't so sure of it when I first heard it but I know I love AlunaGeorge and I thought I should give it a few more chances and I do enjoy it now. I also love the colour palette in the video. Slay dem baby hairs gurl, very FKA Twigs.
Tom Shorterz x Lucy Love - Colours
Just a summer banger, not much else to say really.
Craig David ft. Big Narstie - When the baseline drops
You know life is great when Craig David makes another comeback. I'm definitely the girl with the stussy hoodie and white hair. Feeling inspired.
Lucky Charmes ft. Wiley -Skank (Skank Out)
I think you can tell I'm getting tired because my descriptions are getting shorter and I can't think of much to say, but this song gives me life. I put this on and I instantly want to go out despite knowing that when I actually get to five points it will be Jumpman and Party in the USA. The beat at 2.03 makes me so happy that I'm pretty sure I've almost dislocated my knee from the mad shuffling I do in my room it.
Teenear ft. Sage the Gemini - Friday Night
I've never heard of Teenear or Sage the Gemini before but I'm happy that I've found a girl that I enjoy listening (except Tinashe and Jhene Aiko). Although the picture makes me feel like she was a part of a teenage girl group that split up but she wasn't quite ready to let it go.
Sevyn Streeter, Chris Brown - It Wont Stop
I feel like listening to this after Teenear makes this seem so grown up. See, another Chris Brown song that I like, I don't understand how I don't think about any of his songs but he's low key in all of them. I really do enjoy her voice as well. There needs to be more recognised female vocals around!
Linden Jay - Be like you
That awkward moment when they have 'dropped another one' but you had no idea that they had more than this song. Nevertheless I do enjoy this song and I hope they do drop another one.
Destructo, Ty Dollar $ign, ILoveMakonnen - 4 Real
Despite having so many songs on this list, this song is definitely the one I've had on repeat 4 real.
Ty for the lolz if you got this far. Also shout out to DJ Khaled for being the best snapchatter. Stay away from they and don't ever play yourself
