As many may already know now I visited Portugal a couple of weeks ago and it was glorious. It was just a good old fashioned relaxing holiday with little sightseeing and a lot of chilling. I'd been to Portugal before and in particular Vilamoura, but I was really young, maybe about 8. We stayed at Crowne Plaza which was a really nice hotel but with weird services. It was my aunt's birthday and they wouldn't let us go get knives and forks ourselves, we had to call room service who never actually came with them. My sister had a steal a knife which is probably what they were trying to avoid... (knife has been returned). We spent most of our days by the pool and one day in particular at a Water Park that had ridiculously long queues.
Most of our conversations were debating which restaurant we were going to that night. I would say that the Marina has a lot of options but please please please do your research before going to a particular restaurant as on our first day we chose a place called Uniko and the food and service were pretty bad. On the bright side, we got some pretty nice pictures of the sunset on that night.
Every night would be completed with a walk along the Marina to Nougat Tea'n to indulge in some macaroons, a personal favourite of my mum's.
Our last day was pretty special as none of us had anticipated that we would spend time on a yacht. With absolute excitement we booked it and waited eagerly and when we first got on the boat there were smiles all around. We ventured out and pretty much everyone was feeling a bit queasy but we all found comfortable positions in order to keep us from puking. With that being said my sister and I were laying at the back of the yacht taking pictures (as you do) and she was just like 'I need a bag, I'm gonna be sick'. Driver replied saying 'Feed the fish! Feed the fish!' So with full force she leaned out the yacht directing the vomit out to sea yet she didn't anticipate the strength of the wind, so it blew back onto the yacht. She was immediately fine and I couldn't stop laughing.
Other than that, the views were absolutely amazing, but it's safe to say I don't think my family want to go on a boat in a long time.
It was my aunt's birthday on the day we left so we celebrated this night.

(disclosure: my dad was teaching her how to swim, not trying to drown her) |
