Shadow Child - Nothing Ever Hurts You and 23
This is the second time Shadow Child have been to Canterbury and I've missed them yet again. They were the first dj's that came to #trend that I'd ever heard of. Naturally I wanted to see him but I never made it. So after hearing that they made a second appearance at my uni, I wanted to listen to some of their stuff again. I saw so many snapchats of 23 and got it stuck in my head because it has such a catchy tune. I'm back to the stages of liking music and not being able to figure out what it is because I can't type in the lyrics into google cause there are no bloody lyrics. Either way I really enjoy 23. Nothing Ever Hurts You has actually words and is aimed more at popular culture.
Artful Dodger - Moving Too Fast
Now we're rewinding the clocks and going back to a time when this song was an absolute hit. I'm sure you've heard of it and when they took to the stage in Eliot Hall at UKC, it must have revived so much nostalgia. I used to listen to this song with my dad in the car and thinking back, I can just imagine us driving home from school in our convertible BMW blasting this song in the shitty Scarborough summer sun. I wish I was there but for now, listening to this song through headphones is enough for me.
Sophia Black - Anchor
I love Sophia Black's voice, she sounds has one of those voices that are so delicate but behind is filled with strength similar to Banks or Alessia Cara. Her acoustics with this song work really well with the contrasting bass. I'm looking forward to hearing more songs by her.
Toyboy and Robin - Jaded
Another song that would be really popular and could make the charts is this song. I absolutely love the video for this because it is basically loads of people shuffling and doing the running man. It's basically how I want to dance forever, and despite people tell me I'm a good dancer and I imagine this is how I dance but in reality I probably look like an injured frog. The song makes me want to get up and do the running man but I know I will end up with my face on the floor so I will stay seated for now..until I hit five points.. Definitely my new favourite song.
Ryn Weaver - Octahate - Cashmere Cat Remix
I haven't heard the original to this song but the remix is so good! The xylophone feel to the song makes it feel really exciting and the build up to the drop has a lot of different layers to it, I'm not really sure what else to say about it but I think it's such an interesting mix.
Oliver Heldens & Shaun Frank - Shades of Grey
Shades of Grey will forever make me think of Christian Grey but this song might change that. All these kind of songs make me think of summer but for some reason maybe because of the name I think of winter because grey also makes me think of fog and horrible weather, although it still makes me feel like it's summer inside.
