This day was a long time ago but I can't help but want to talk about the best event that happened in my second semester/term abroad. St. Patrick's Day like Halloween is a really big deal especially in Columbia. Five points (the strip of bars) is closed off and is a ticketed event. It is advertised as a family event which starts off correct as there is a marathon for all ages that starts really early in the morning. As for the rest of the day all the bars are open for day drinking and there are live bands at bars and in the middle of the streets.

Our group started pre drinking at an early time of around 10 a.m before heading off into 5 points at around 12 p.m /1 p.m. We dressed up in all the green we could scrape off the floor and painted our faces to get in the mood. Some may say that our group goes above and beyond; we decided to bring out two sweet potatoes with faces drawn with a sharpie and made it a challenge to keep them with us all day. Now pumped we headed to Breakers, our obvious first port of call. Trash cans in green cups; very festive.

After leaving Breakers we found a live band in the middle of the road and acting like we were seeing One Directions last performance, we screamed and fan-girled so much, but honestly, it was amazing. After the band finished performing, we hit up Horseshoe (which was hosting a metal band), and Cotton Gin. This is where a T.Spaz threw the sweet potato at my head and he had failed to pick it up after rolling back to him. I blame him. Also shout out to the best photographer, Jess Crabbe for taking the best pictures!

After a great day of drinking and dancing we headed to Moes for a much needed burrito! All in all a great day continued by a nap and a night out. 10/10, much recommended.
