Football (American football) is such a big thing in America. As an international, it becomes apparent that football is a massive part of the American life. The whole day is set aside and everywhere you turn you can see the colours of red, black and white, the colours of our team. The band are constantly practising songs during the week in order to prepare for performance at half time. I have been to two home games now and they have been different to each other.

12/9/15

Started off the day having no idea what we were gonna do, what we were gonna wear, so expectations weren't high and confusion was dominating. We decided to get a shuttle to the tailgate and as we got there we realised we had to wait another forty five minutes. But suddenly a cab shone light in our direction and it wasn't just any cab, it was a party cab. We had too many people to fit in his cab but he didn't care, he was bringing a party. So onwards we went squished whilst listening to Magic! and a bit of Sandstorm to set the mood.

There were so many people there getting ready for the game, drinking beer, having a bbq. It was complete madness, but it was an organised madness. We played beer pong, explored the area, struggled in a portaloo, got dirty feet, ate any food that was offered to us and honestly it doesn't sound great but I had such a good time. I can understand why people do this before a game because there are so many people just getting hyped.

As we walk along the train tracks we gather up some people on our way to the game. The game was okay, I wasn't really ready to get into it, I was hungry and tired but I tried for a bit. The only time I watched American Football was watching the Superbowl and leaving after Katy Perry finished, but I couldn't concentrate. All I could think of was my rumbling stomach (and how dry my hands were hence the appearance of the mango goodness that is my body butter). So we left just before half time to get pizza. Can I just say that Domino's garlic press pizza here is amazing. I wish I had enough money to get that all the time!

26/9/15

This game day was a little different. The game started at 12pm so tailgating started ridiculously early. No one was prepared to wake up at 7am and start eating and drinking so we started at 10am. We got there and I don't know why, but I was really into the game. I was starting to learn the rules a bit and the game was moving faster than I remembered. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would and I'm looking forward to going again!

I was always sat upper deck and apparently the atmosphere is so much better in lower deck so I will definitely do my best to try and get tickets for that!
